Metawell® - the product
Metawell® is a patented panel of lightweight constructio
with a thin metal corrugation between two cover sheets. This ingeniously
simple structure makes it a very light and extremely rigid sandwich panel
that provides significant savings in weight particularly when used in
big formats. For more than 15 years now Metawell® has been
worldwide in the building sector(e. g. ceiling system, radiant cooling/heating
system, fassades, interior construction), in transportation systems(railways,
shipbuilding, automobile) and in machine-building.
Characteristics
The innovative Metawell® hot-melt gluing system which is
used to bond the corrugation on the cover sheets provides the benefits
of conventional gluing systems while not having their disadvantages. Thus,
for instance, there is no creeping of the compound as is typical with
viscoplastic hot-melt systems nor the classical danger of brittle failure
which appears with brittlehard compounds.
What is more, the specific system of Metawell® warrants
a high chemical and physical consistency. The temperature stability of
Metawell® cmes to approximately -40°C up to +100°C.
A higher temperature stability can be obtained on request.
Thanks to the optimized geometry of the corrugation the adhesive can "snuggle"
perfectly to the sheets at the connection places. Therewith Metawell®
reaches a particularly high static strength and an extremely good dynamic
stability.
Sizes and surfaces
Metawell® is available in aluminium or steel with various
cover sheet thickness(0.2 mm to 1.0 mm) and surface coatings(conversion-treated,
primered, coilcoated, anodized respectively galvanized).
Thanks to the continuous production process almost any length can be supplied
with the standard width of aluminium panels being 1500mm and that of galvanized
steel panels 1000mm. Other widths can be supplied on request. The overall
thickness of the cover sheets(t1 + t2); see drawing above. The standard
sizes available ex stock are listed in the table of this delivery program.
By varying the cover sheets and bonding together several Metawell®
panels into double and triple panels a broad range of characteristics
can be obtained.
